Booking & pricing

What's the difference between Daisy and Jack?

Daisy is our VW T6 Highline campervan. She sleeps up to 4, has a pop-top roof, a full kitchen with gas hob and fridge, a diesel heater and solar power. Everything you need is on board, and she's comfortable in any weather — best for families and longer trips.

Jack is a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk with a rooftop tent. He sleeps 2, has genuine four-wheel drive with low-range gearing, and will go places a campervan can't — forest tracks, rough ground, muddy fields. There's no kitchen or heating, so you bring your own camping kit. Best for couples on shorter, more adventurous trips.

You can compare them side by side, or see both on the Prices & Availability page.

How much does it cost to hire?

Daisy: 3 nights £495, 7 nights £980. The nightly rate is £140 and applies from 4 nights onwards; a 3-night trip is charged at the £495 minimum. Jack: £100/night, £300 minimum.

Both are a flat rate all year round — there's no peak-season increase — and both have a minimum hire of 3 nights.

See our Prices & Availability page for the live calendar and an instant quote.

What's included in the price?

Both vehicles include comprehensive insurance for approved drivers, UK breakdown cover, a full handover walkthrough, and 125 miles per night with extra mileage charged at £0.45/mile.

Daisy also comes with cooking equipment and gas, an electric hookup cable and camping chairs.

Jack comes with the rooftop tent fitted and ready to use, but no kitchen, gas or heating — bring your own stove, cookware, chairs and sleeping bags.

How do I pay, and what's the security deposit?

A 25% deposit secures your booking, with the balance due 28 days before collection (or in full if you're booking within 28 days of your trip). Separately, a £1,200 security deposit is taken before collection — this isn't a charge, it's held against the hire and refunded within around 7 working days of the vehicle coming back, once we've checked everything over.

Can I change my dates after booking?

Yes — one date change is allowed if requested more than 42 days before collection, subject to availability, our minimum-stay rules and any price difference. Get in touch as early as you can if your plans shift.

What if I need to cancel?

You can cancel any time by emailing us. Refunds depend on how close to collection you cancel: full refund within 48 hours of booking (if collection is more than 42 days away), the 25% deposit is retained if you cancel more than 42 days out, 50% of the total is due between 42–14 days out, and the full amount is due inside 14 days. We'd always recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation. Full details are in our Terms & Conditions.

Driving & documents

Who's eligible to drive?

Drivers need to be aged 25–75, have held a full licence for at least 2 years, and be approved by our insurer (which usually rules out more than two minor endorsements or more than one at-fault claim in the last 3 years). Both vehicles are driven on a standard full UK car licence — no special category needed.

What documents do I need to bring?

Your photocard driving licence, a DVLA "check code", and two proofs of address dated within the last 90 days (a council tax bill, utility or phone bill, bank/credit-card statement or mortgage statement all work, as long as the address matches your licence).

To get your check code, go to gov.uk/view-driving-licence and share your driving record with us — you'll need your licence number, National Insurance number and the postcode on your licence. The code is only valid for 21 days, so generate it close to your collection date.

Can someone else share the driving?

Yes, as long as they meet the same eligibility criteria and are added to the rental agreement and approved by our insurer before collection. Let us know in advance so we can get everything ready.

Your trip

What time is collection and return?

Collection is from 3:00pm and the vehicle needs to be back by 10:00am, both at our base in Newhall, Harlow. Allow a bit of time at collection for the handover walkthrough, and at return for a quick check-over.

What if I'm running late on return?

Let us know as early as possible — a pre-agreed late return up to 4:00pm may be available for £70, subject to availability (we often have another guest collecting the same day). An unarranged late return is charged at £35 per hour (minimum £70), plus any costs it causes for the next hire.

How clean does the vehicle need to be when I return it?

We love sending Daisy out in tip-top shape, and she needs to come back the same way, washed inside and out — please don't leave the cleaning to us. Before handing back the keys, you'll need to:

  • Remove all rubbish and personal belongings.
  • Wash, dry, and put away all dishes and utensils.
  • Give the surfaces a quick wipe down.
  • Give the outside a wash too — see our exterior washing rules below.
⛔ Important — exterior washing rules: the outside needs washing too, but never take Daisy through an automated drive-through car wash. The spinning brushes and low clearance can severely damage her pop-top roof and solar panels. Use hand washing or a gentle pressure wash only.
💡 Local tip: want to save yourself the hassle? We highly recommend Spellbrook Hand Car Wash nearby. They do a fantastic job giving Daisy a hand wash inside and out for around £25.

Extra cleaning charges & fees. Doing the basic cleaning above yourself won't cost you anything extra — but if you don't, and Daisy comes back needing more than that, these charges apply:

  • Deep cleaning charge (£75): applies if Daisy returns needing extra care beyond standard expectations (e.g. excessive mud, upholstery stains, spilled food, or bodily fluids).
  • Professional valet: if the condition requires a specialist professional valet, we will charge the actual cost incurred and provide you with a copy of the invoice.
  • Smoking or vaping (£150): smoking or vaping inside the vehicle is strictly prohibited. Evidence of either carries a £150 charge.
  • Pet mess (£75+): pet mess beyond what is covered by the usual dog supplement will incur a £75 charge (or the actual cleaning cost if higher).

How charges & deposits work. Any applicable charges will be deducted directly from your £1,200 security deposit. If a deduction is necessary, we will provide you with a fully itemised breakdown, and the remaining balance will be refunded within 7 working days.

What happens if the vehicle breaks down?

Get everyone somewhere safe, then contact the breakdown provider and us straight away — the details are in your handover pack. Don't authorise repairs over £50 without checking with us first, other than genuine emergencies.

Can I take a vehicle to Europe?

Daisy, yes — with our prior written approval. (Jack isn't available for European travel.) The European Travel Package is £100 for trips up to 28 nights and covers the insurance extension, European breakdown cover, the VE103 vehicle-on-hire certificate and admin. You'll need to sort your own passports, visas, ferry/tunnel bookings, tolls and vignettes.

Do I need to bring bedding and towels?

Included with every Daisy hire, at no extra cost: Duvalay memory-foam mattress toppers with fresh fitted sheets on both the downstairs RIB bed and the pop-top.

So all you need to bring is duvets or sleeping bags, and pillows.

If you'd rather travel light, add our bedding bundle (+£45) and we'll have the downstairs bed made up on arrival with two single Duvalay sleeping bags and pillows.

Please note: the bundle covers the two downstairs berths only. If anyone is sleeping in the pop-top, bring a duvet or sleeping bag and pillows for them. Daisy only — for Jack, bring your own bedding. Towels aren't included either way.

Dogs & extras

Are dogs welcome?

Yes — up to 2 well-behaved dogs are welcome in either vehicle with prior agreement, for a £45 supplement per booking. Dogs shouldn't be left unattended, and we'd ask you to bring their own bedding or a cover to protect the seats. The £45 supplement covers normal pet-related cleaning; if hair, staining or odour goes beyond that, a further £75 charge applies (or the actual cost if higher).

What optional extras can I add?

The dog supplement (+£45), the European travel package (+£100, Daisy only), the bedding bundle (+£45, Daisy only) and a drive-away awning (+£45, Daisy only) can all be added when you book — just tick the box on the booking form and they'll be included in your estimate.
